Healthy Life Initiatives

This program aims to improve access to health services women, girls, and vulnerable children. AIDE focuses on Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and Services, HIV prevention, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Menstrual Hygiene Management as well as Mental Health and Psychosocial support.

Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and Services: This aims at increasing access and utilization of SRHR and services among women and girls in rural communities. Using community-led approaches, AIDE organizes quarterly awareness campaigns on sexual reproductive rights among women, girls and MARPS through community outreaches in partnership with health centres, trainings of SRH peer educators and facilitation of technical trainings among community health workers in rights-based approaches. AIDE also organizes advocacy campaigns for establishment youth friendly corners health facilities and SRH corners in schools. AIDE also organizes child protection and safeguarding sessions as well as quarterly awareness campaigns on teenage pregnancy and early marriage.

HIV prevention: In this program, AIDE aims to increase access to testing, treatment, adherence, and retention to HIV services in rural communities. To foster the 95-95-95 strategy of HIV prevention, AIDE conducts HIV Counselling and Testing community outreaches, support distribution of HIV and AIDS IEC materials (posters and fliers), supports linkages of identified positive clients into care and screen for TB services, conducts monthly follow up on tested clients and index testing / partner assisted notification, conducts quarterly condom

Water Sanitation and Hygiene: This aims at increasing access to clean and safe WASH facilities among women households. To ensure community empowerment, AIDE conducts awareness on safe and clean water among women, girls and MARPs and support women homes with household water systems. This helps to reduce to reduce the workload in terms of time and resources spend on collecting water from long distances.

Menstrual Hygiene Management: AIDE aims to improve proper gender responsive menstrual hygiene practices among adolescent girls. AIDE conducts awareness on menstrual health among adolescent girls and young women. AIDE supports girls and young women to make locally produce menstrual supply kits as well as to set up MHM enterprises.

Mental health and psychosocial support: This is aimed at accessing safe spaces for mental health and emotional wellbeing of women, girls and vulnerable children. AIDE focuses on promoting community based mental health service provision. AIDE therefore conducts trainings in mental health and emotional well-being among community health workers as well as support them to provide psychosocial support for women and girls. AIDE also conducts advocacy campaigns for community based mental health.
